Purchase Ledger Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Team Leader to take ownership of our purchase ledger functions. This role will be critical in maintaining financial integrity, optimizing working capital, and supporting smooth supplier relationships.

Location: Hybrid      Part time vacancy: 3-4 days a week

Purchase Ledger

• Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice entry, approvals, and payment runs.
• Ensure accurate posting of purchase invoices, credit notes, and supplier reconciliations.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers, handling queries and ensuring timely payments while maximizing payment terms.
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end close with accruals, prepayments, and ledger reviews.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve financial processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies in all financial operations and decision-making processes.

Health and Safety

Operate in a safe manner at all times and in accordance with site standards as communicated via induction, policies, procedures and toolbox talks

You will have:

• 3+ years in a transactional finance role with a purchase ledger.
• Previous experience in food distribution, FMCG, or supply chain environments preferred.
• Proficient in accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence handling suppliers and customers directly.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional team
• Experience leading a team
